Establishing Operations: Teaching Language to Children with Autism
Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Holly Kibbe, M.S., BCBA and Cherish Twigg, M.S., BCBA established EO INC. in 2003. We specialize in providing local and long distance consultation services to set up verbal behavior programs for children with autism. We focus on both therapist and parent training as we feel it is important for the parents to be involved in their child’s program. We stress the importance of the child’s motivation to learn and pride ourselves on our ability to teach others how to build and maintain this motivation.
In addition to school, clinic and in-home program consultation, we also present a series of training workshops designed to teach both parents and professionals how to teach children with autism to talk. Our procedures are derived from the literature of applied behavior analysis (ABA) and based on the works of B.F. Skinner and other prominent well published behavior analysts. Many of the children we service make significant language gains ranging from learning to ask for things they want (manding) to speaking conversationally. In addition to targeting an increase in language skills, we also work diligently to reduce any excessive problem behaviors the children may be exhibiting. We teach the child’s parents and teachers how to reduce and prevent these behaviors while simultaneously teaching appropriate alternative behaviors. EO Inc. offers supervision programs for those seeking their certification in applied behavior analysis or for those who are already board certified and are seeking to further their skill set with supervision from experts in the field. We believe in the importance of furthering the field of applied behavior analysis through the certification process. For more information on certification please see www.BACB.com. Be certain to take a look at our store where we are offering verbal behavior training DVD’s. These DVD’s are designed to teach the viewer a multitude of information on how to teach verbal behavior in the natural environment as well as the intensive teaching environment. Many of these DVD’s use videos of children with autism to illustrate the recommended teaching procedures. Our Getting Started DVD explains complex concepts in ABA in an easy to understand manner. These are all valuable autism resources. In addition to all the things mentioned above, our website also provides data sheets, teaching ideas, autism resources and lists of skills to teach among other valuable information. Thank you for visiting our site. Please feel free to contact us at info@establishingoperationsinc.com if you have suggestions or questions for us. |
